Birthday Notes To Myself (And To You)
Happy Birthday to me and everyone who’s ever had a birthday happen to them!
Congratulations! You’re born. You’ve come so far! Whooo!
I’ll share some “serious” birthday thoughts because I become a very serious, emotional and deep person on my birthdays. It’s a curse.
So dear me (and you), here are some things to remember:
Everything has goodness in it. There is no other way. You’re good even though life can’t always feel good.
You can be angry or frustrated with yourself but it doesn’t mean you stop loving yourself. You make mistakes and they have nothing to do with your worth. It’s like when you’re angry with someone you love.
Maybe you should leave “I couldn’t come but I wish you happiness,” notes for friends who invite you to things? Maybe you should tell them?
When you read, you meet friends. Words that comfort you feel like they’ve been written by the people you’ve missed your whole life. Sometimes your new friends are ghosts of writers, sometimes old thoughts that feel like they belong to collective dreams. There’ll be places which offer unconditional peace, fictional worlds traveled through sacred pages we all share. It’s like a secret magic we don’t really acknowledge. You’ll remember you’re not alone, that you’ve never been alone.
When you write you’ll make friends, it’s like giving gifts, so many new dreams shared, endless worlds created. Those who read will remember they’re not alone, just like you. They’ll know you far better than anyone could.
It’ll feel like a timeless forever, always preserved and untouched. Never to be lost.
Somewhere you can always go.
You deserve love. You deserve Your love.
Keep going regardless. Keep going even when it feels bad and scary. It’ll be fine. You can handle it. You don’t know how strong you are yet. Don’t waste so much time on worrying. Do things. Keep moving. Tell yourself to keep moving. Change the situation.
There’s truth in happiness.
Fear can fool you.
When something doesn’t feel right, doesn’t make you happy, doesn’t feel good, maybe you should let it go? It can be a feeling, your own thoughts, a person, a situation, a place. If it continually hurts you, harms you, let it go. Please choose to do and think what feels right, good and light. If you’re angry or hurt, know that it’s because what you’re paying attention to isn’t useful to you and let it go instead of engaging in it, analyze it later when you can think calmly.
You’re fine. No matter what happens.
